New Japanese Style Yakitori and Craft Beer Restaurant to Open in Eastside Costa Mesa’s 17th Street Retail Strip
May 15, 2017 – Costa Mesa, CA – Oak & Coal has announced it will be opening its first store on the busy retail strip of East 17th street in Costa Mesa. Oak & Coal will feature “Yakitori” or Japanese skewers of organic, free range poultry, wagyu beef, free range pork, and fresh vegetables cooked slowly over Japanese oak. Oak & Coal will also feature a rotating tap selection of craft beers from various local breweries.
Oak & Coal utilized well known green architect, Jorden Segraves, to design this cozy 1400 square foot space. Although it will be Oak & Coal’s first location, owner/operator Jeff Chon also runs The Alley in Newport Beach, Tabu Shabu, and The Wayfarer in Costa Mesa.
The menu will not only feature yakitori, but also include unique soba noodle dishes as well as daily handmade kimchi dumplings in limited supply. Oak & Coal will be a welcome contemporary Japanese cuisine addition to the Eastside.
